Home Improvement

This week I have learned:

1) Wallpaper removal is a task set up in a special corner of hell, typically reserved for the worst of Satan's bretheren.

2) All the "tricks and tips" for smooth wallpaper removal your friends and family are so willing to dole out dont help a darn bit. ("Well, when I used a steamer, the paper came down in full sheets..." These are lies.)

3) A Coors Light never tastes as good as it does after 4 hours of scraping wallpaper off plaster with a butter knife.

4) The beadboard that was glued over said wallpaper didnt look so bad after all.

So, after putting our noses to the grindstone with wallpaper removal, and patting ourselves on the back at a job well done...we are crestfallen when the realization hits that we still have to skim-coat, prime, and paint. Maybe next week. I'm starting to like the jungle theme.
